How to read it
- The ranking is cash in USD. It ignores prices, rent and the benefits bundled into deductions (health insurance and pensions in Germany, France, Sweden).
- Averages approximate national statistics / OECD-style figures; capital cities (London, Tokyo, Seoul) run 20–40% above the national average.
- Single filer, no dependents. Married workers and parents pay less in most systems.
- UAE and Saudi Arabia have no income tax, so gross equals net — but there is no state pension and housing is expensive.
