Gross-to-net salary in India for five income levels: income tax, social contributions, monthly take-home pay and effective rate — plus how India compares with the US, UK, Germany, Japan and Korea on the same income.

Under the new tax regime a ₹12 lakh salary pays zero income tax after the Section 87A rebate — but ₹12.75 lakh does not, and the cliff catches thousands of IT professionals every appraisal cycle. Know where the rebate ends before you negotiate.
