Gross-to-net salary in Brazil for five income levels: income tax, social contributions, monthly take-home pay and effective rate — plus how Brazil compares with the US, UK, Germany, Japan and Korea on the same income.

Brazil is raising the income-tax exemption to R$5,000 a month from 2026, taking millions of CLT workers off the tax rolls entirely. Above that, IRRF climbs to 27.5% fast — and the 13th salary, FGTS (8% employer-paid savings) and 30 days' vacation with a one-third bonus mean a CLT package is worth far more than the monthly figure.

How deductions work in Brazil

INSS is progressive 7.5/9/12/14% on monthly salary up to R$8,157.41 (2025 ceiling). IRRF applies to salary minus INSS: 0% to R$2,428.80, then 7.5/15/22.5/27.5% in narrow bands (the 27.5% band starts at R$4,664.68). The 2026 reform exempts income up to R$5,000 with a phase-out to R$7,350. FGTS (8%) is paid by the employer into your account and is not deducted.
